AdeptLink KYC: documents, timing, and how to pass on the first try
AdeptLink KYC verifies legal entity, beneficial owner, banking, and sanctions screening before allowing any transaction. Buyers and suppliers upload 2-5 documents depending on role; review takes a median of 7 hours for buyers and 3 business days for suppliers. The first-attempt pass rate in 2025 was 87% — 78% of failures came from blurry ID photos.
Key facts
- First-attempt KYC pass rate in 2025: 87% across all geographies.
- Median review time: 7 hours for buyers, 3 business days for suppliers.
- 78% of rejections are caused by ID photos missing one or more document corners.
What does AdeptLink screen during KYC?
Five checks run in sequence: (1) document authenticity using DocuSign-grade OCR, (2) beneficial owner identification down to 25% ownership, (3) sanctions screening against UN, OFAC, EU, UK HMT and Australian DFAT lists, (4) PEP (politically-exposed person) screening, and (5) adverse media screening across 9,000+ publications.
How should I photograph my ID?
Use a dark, non-reflective surface. All four corners of the document must be visible inside the frame. Avoid flash glare on holograms. Files must be JPG, PNG, or PDF, under 10 MB, and at least 1500 pixels on the long edge.
Do not crop, rotate, or apply filters. AdeptLink's OCR rejects images that have been edited because the EXIF metadata change is treated as tampering.
What are the four most common rejection reasons?
(1) ID photo missing a corner — 78% of rejections. (2) Bank statement older than 90 days — 9%. (3) Company name on bank statement does not match the registration certificate — 7%. (4) Business address proof showing a residential property without a home-office declaration — 4%. Fixing the underlying issue and re-uploading restarts review at the front of the queue.
Frequently asked questions
- Will AdeptLink share my KYC documents with anyone?
- No. KYC documents are stored encrypted at rest (AES-256) and are accessible only to AdeptLink Compliance officers. They are never shared with buyers, suppliers, or third-party marketplaces. Documents are deleted 7 years after account closure per FATF guidelines.
- What happens if my KYC fails?
- You receive an email within 1 business day explaining which document failed and why. You can re-upload directly from /account/kyc; the resubmission goes to the front of the review queue.
- Do I need to redo KYC every year?
- No. AdeptLink performs continuous sanctions screening in the background. You only re-upload documents when something material changes — new beneficial owner, new bank account, change of legal name, or moved registered address.
